What can I say about Berlin? Regularly, I’m asked what is the best place that I’ve visited? It’s a tough question. There’s so many beautiful and awesome places that I’ve been to, that it’s so hard to choose just one. But as a city destination, Berlin would be right up there near the top of the list. Why? It is a unique place that pretty much has everything. The history, the architecture, the culture and a pretty awesome lifestyle. It’s a city that doesn’t sleep, but in a cool way. There’s always something new to discover in every nook and cranny within the city. Berlin has certainly had its lows as well as its highs. The city had to endure the end of World War 2, and the destruction that followed. Afterwards, the city was cruelly split into two, where West Berlin could thrive and East Berlin was left under the influence of the Soviet Union. In 1989, that all changed. A year later, in 1990, the city and country were officially reunified once again. Everything that Berlin has been through has made it the city that it is today. Make sure you visit the museum quarter whilst in Berlin, and head to the Pergamum Museum to see the Ishtar Gate. For food, currywurst is a must. But you’ve also got to try Burgermeister. A burger chain that has converted some quirky places into Burger joints. When visiting Berlin, besides exploring the city's attractions, you can also visit Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam. A combo ticket to see all the surrounding attractions costs 22 euros, while just entering Sanssouci Palace costs 14 euros. Personally, I wasn't interested in the other attractions, so I chose the 14-euro option. However, the 14-euro ticket can only be purchased on-site on the same day, not online, so you need to queue up early. If you buy the ticket in the morning, you can enter around noon. The tour takes about 35 minutes. After visiting, I felt it was okay but not a must-see. I booked the same hotel on Trip.com for a few hundred dollars less than other websites, saving money and earning Trip coins for future use.

Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin Out of the 3, I prefer Schwerin Castle 🏰. The castle's exterior looks so magical and lovely, while the interior looks luxurious with an art exhibition displaying works from Dutch & Flemish artists from the 17th and 18th century. The artist king who changed Germany, Frederick the Great of Prussia Although later generations bestowed upon him the title 'the Great', Frederick himself designed Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam and had it completed by architect von Knobelsdorff, and we can still see his influence today. Frederick II referred to himself as 'the first servant of the state'. In addition to German and French, which his father insisted on, Frederick II also spoke English, Spanish, and Italian, and could understand Latin and Greek; he was quite skilled at playing the flute, had held solo concerts, and was praised by 'the father of Western music' Bach. The fruit-green walls are inlaid with gold edges, and golden columns form a circle, surrounding life-sized gilded figures (representing Chinese people).
