If you’re going to Madrid, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth a visit too! About an hour or so away, one can conveniently purchase a bus ticket at the Madrid Moncloa station for maybe around 10 euros for a return ticket (I’m sorry I forgot the exact price but it was affordable!). And the bus takes you right to the centre of Segovia, which is great. From there, in just 10 minutes or so you can walk/stroll to this amazing, impressive aqueduct, very obviously the main feature of this town. It’s unmissable and even the main street leading up to it is named after it. Its grand and old and anything grand and old is worth looking at, in my opinion hahaha because hey, it’s been standing for ages. transportation- Option 1. Bus 🚌 (100 minutes) Take the Madrid Metro to Moncloa Station, get off and see the Bus sign, then walk to the 8/9 bus platform on the upper level. It is recommended to buy the ticket first on the official website Avanza (€6.1), and you can choose not to have travel insurance. You can also buy tickets at the counter or vending machine on the spot, but there are often no tickets on Saturdays and Sundays. I saw other locals buying tickets on the bus. Just take the bus to the main bus station. Option 2. Train 🚊 Transfer to bus (within 1 hour) Take a bus from Madrid to Chamartin train station, then take a train to Segovia Guiomar, and then take bus No. 11 up the mountain. The train seats are more comfortable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️It is recommended to take the bus on the way there because the bus stop is closer to the attraction. On my return trip, I took bus No. 11 from the mountain for €2.5 and transferred to the train. The bus and train schedules are not very flexible, so it is recommended to buy train tickets online in advance. The train is fast, but it takes about 10 minutes to transfer to the center of Madrid due to renovations. Local attractions - Segovia Aqueduct/ Iglesia de San Martín/ Alcázar de Segovia It is also beautiful to take pictures around the aqueduct. I didn’t go inside the castle to visit it. It feels okay outside, but it is suitable for a walk outside if the weather is good. The restaurant is also famous for its roast suckling pig. ⭐️A trip to Segovia to enjoy history and fine food I still vividly remember my first visit to Segovia. This city is full of history and beauty, and wherever I walked, there were many exciting places. 🤩 ⚫︎The spectacular Roman Aqueduct The first thing I saw when I arrived in Segovia was the Roman Aqueduct. I couldn't help but stop and look up at its huge size and beauty. 🙄It was so complete that I couldn't believe it was built just by stacking stones, and I couldn't help but take many photos. After that, I stopped at a gelato shop right near the aqueduct. The gelato I had there was also delicious! The rich flavor and cool, refreshing taste soothed my body, which was a little tired from sightseeing. The taste of the gelato eaten while looking at the aqueduct is exceptional. 😋 ⚫︎The Alcazar, like a fairy tale The next place I visited was the Alcazar. It is said that it was the model for the castle in the Disney movie "Snow White," and its beauty was truly like a fairy tale world. 🏰　 The view from the top of the castle tower was particularly spectacular, and I could see the whole of Segovia. At that moment, I truly thought, "I'm glad I came here." 😍 ⚫︎The cobblestone city of Segovia Old Town The old town was also really wonderful. As I walked along the cobblestone streets, I felt like I was on a treasure hunt, as delicious smells drifted from nowhere and I found cute cafes. No matter which road I walked, I felt a medieval atmosphere, and I lost track of time as I strolled around. ☺️ On the day I visited Segovia, I was able to enjoy not only the fun of experiencing history and culture, but also delicious food and a relaxing time. I ate gelato at the Roman Aqueduct, was moved by the fairy tale-like scenery at the Alcazar, and walked leisurely through the old town. Segovia is a place full of such special experiences. It is made up of 160 pillars and is built in two stages, and it is several times larger than it appears in the photo. The enormous scale is truly amazing.
