[2025 Cairns Hotels] Travel Guide for Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns (Updated Jun)

The Shangri-La is very close to both the airport and the marina. You can take a taxi🚕 from the airport. We arrived at the hotel at noon, and though the room wasn't ready【luggage can be stored and delivered to the room】, the hotel's buffet breakfast was quite good. 🍽️There are plenty of dining options nearby. We had lunch at Villa Romana—their tiramisu is absolutely amazing🍰. For those planning to visit the Great Barrier Reef, the Shangri-La is super close to the Reef Fleet Terminal, just a 🚶3-minute walk away. We took the Quicksilver tour to the Outer Reef, and the meeting point for boarding was at this terminal. Downtown Cairns is quite small, and staying at this hotel means most places are within walking distance. We visited the aquarium, the night market (which starts daily at 4:30 PM), and the local market. The Dundee’s restaurant near the marina is highly recommended【they even have a full Chinese menu】.

As it's a five-star hotel, the amenities and the hotel staff are very friendly. I stayed in a deluxe room. The room was very spacious, the bed was big, and there was a terrace, so I was able to relax. The bathroom was also very clean and tidy. There are also rooms with a view of the port, so I recommend those as well.
