In-depth Guide to Exploring the Dai Ethnic Garden 🌴
This time, I chose the Starry Love Resort Hotel in Xishuangbanna, and I was completely captivated by its location! It's just a 10-minute walk to the Starlight Night Market, and after an evening of exploring and eating, you can head back to the hotel's rooftop terrace to stargaze. The rooms feature an ultra-cool smart control system, allowing you to adjust the lighting and play music right from your bed—it's a lazy person's paradise 🌌! The hotel also offers complimentary airport and station transfers, so you're greeted with the warm hospitality of Dai ethnic sisters as soon as you arrive.
The surprises at the Dai Ethnic Garden exceeded all expectations! I highly recommend setting aside a full day to unlock these hidden gems 👇:
Water Splashing Carnival
Don't miss the three daily water-splashing events (1:30 PM / 3:30 PM / 5:00 PM)! Rent a Dai costume (30 RMB per set) and join the "battle." Staff will provide small water basins, and the square instantly transforms into a sea of joy 🌊! Be sure to buy a waterproof phone pouch in advance—getting drenched from head to toe is incredibly stress-relieving!
Timeless Buddhist Temple Scenes
The golden roof of Manchunman Ancient Buddhist Temple sparkles under the sunlight, and taking an upward shot from the stairs gives you a Southeast Asian movie vibe 📸! Remember to wear long pants or skirts when entering the temple. The murals and Buddha statues inside are full of stories, and even locals come here to pray.
Dai Cuisine Feast
Don't miss the pineapple rice and pounded chicken feet at Ganbai Street! The pineapple rice is sweet and fragrant, while the pounded chicken feet are tangy and appetizing—just 10 RMB per serving, and you won't be able to stop eating! Also, try the lemongrass-grilled fish and banana leaf-wrapped fish, which are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with aroma.
Tips:
⚠️ There are lockers at the water-splashing square (10 RMB each). Bring a change of clothes.
⚠️ Keep quiet inside the temple, and avoid using flash when taking photos.
⚠️ The scenic area's electric shuttle costs 40 RMB per person. Walking between villages takes about 15 minutes, and along the way, you can see tropical orchards and Dai bamboo houses.
It takes about 50 minutes by taxi from the hotel to the Dai Ethnic Garden. Arrive by 8 AM to avoid crowds and enjoy the serene temples and misty river views. In the evening, return to the hotel for a cup of Pu'er tea in the tea room and listen to staff share Dai stories. Now that's what I call a fulfilling trip! 🐘🌴
