Summer Festival Upgraded With Picture-Perfect Colorful Koinobori Sea@Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Cultural Park(Apr 19, 2025-Aug 31, 2025)
Taoyuan Shrine, you can travel to Japan in one second
Location: No. 200, Section 3, Chenggong Road, Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City
Introduction: The predecessor of Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine was actually Taoyuan Shrine. After the restoration, it was not destroyed like other shrines, and fortunately it was preserved as a Martyrs' Shrine. The shrine was built in 1938 and has a history of 83 years. Spring and autumn ceremonies to commemorate the martyrs are held on March 29 and September 3 every year.
Tickets: Free
Opening hours: 9:00-18:00 Closed on Mondays
My thoughts: This can be said to be the most Japanese-style tourist attraction, and even a movie was filmed here before. During every holiday, there will be holiday-only markets around, where adults and children can have fun and feel at ease.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

⛩️The Forgotten Showa Era|Momoyuan Shrine, a Dialogue between Silence and History
#5月好去处2025
📍Taoyuan Shrine
In the bustling city center of Taoyuan, there is a place where I can't help but slow down every time I pass by. This is not a popular check-in landmark, nor is there the hustle and bustle of crowded crowds, but it is a secret holy place in my heart.
This is Taoyuan Shrine, which is now the Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Shrine Cultural Park. To me, it is like a quietly opened history book, and anyone who approaches can smell the smell of the past - the smell of moss, wood, old stone steps, and Showa legacy.
⛩️The gap between history: Entering the soul of Showa
The moment I stepped onto the stone steps, it felt like walking into a parallel time and space: in front of me was a towering torii, and on both sides were symmetrical stone lanterns. This structure and atmosphere are like the scenes that only appear in "Your Name".
The shrine itself, which is now the worship hall and the main hall, has been preserved very well. Even the "hand water house" is still there, and a long-lost sense of tranquility comes to the face.
📸Photography highlights|Every corner is like traveling through Japan
This place is really suitable for taking photos, and there are not many tourists, so you can take your time to take pictures. I recommend a few spots that I think are super beautiful:
Standing under the torii and shooting up at the sky: you will feel the awe of the Japanese god's perspective.
Symmetrical composition in front of the worship hall: if you wear a kimono or simple Japanese outfit, the whole atmosphere will explode
The afternoon sun shines on the oblique shadows of the stone steps: this is my favorite moment, the light and shadow are as gentle as the description in the novel.
When the light and shadow fall in the evening, the whole park adds a quiet beauty: the shrine at sunset is more full of the atmosphere of the Showa era, and time seems to go back to the past in the movie.
Holiday market: There are exhibitions or cultural and creative markets at Taoyuan Shrine from time to time on holidays, which adds some lively atmosphere to the shrine.
🚶♀️Transportation method: It is actually very close and easy to get to
Take a bus from Taoyuan Railway Station for about 10 minutes and get off at the "Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Shrine Cultural Park" station.
Searching for "Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Shrine Cultural Park" on Google Maps, the location is very accurate. The park is usually open until 6pm, and when there are not many people, it feels like a private place.

Japanese-style sanctuary in Taoyuan City
There are many other places worth visiting in Taoyuan. Another place we would like to recommend is:
“Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Cultural Park”
It has a Japanese atmosphere under the shady trees and a market selling cute things on weekends.
How to get there:
From Taoyuan Railway Station, take bus number 168 or 168A for about 20 minutes.
Review:
- The place is not very big, but it has history and Japanese-style architecture that are worth seeing.
- If you want to take pictures without other tourists, we recommend going on weekdays because on Saturdays and Sundays, there will be a lot of tourists and there may be a market as well.
- Before entering the place, we recommend washing your hands with water from the pond provided by the place.
- The building inside may not be very big, but you can sit and relax and take pictures.
- There is a small coffee shop outside.
