My first trip to Singapore with an unprepared budget but a willing heart ⸻ Going back almost ten years ago… I was staring at AirAsia’s promotional ticket for Bangkok–Singapore, round trip for 1,800 baht. The hand that pressed the booking button didn’t have a lot of money, but my heart wanted to “Go out and see the world once.” And that was my first international trip. The time I was the poorest…but I got the most in my life. ⸻ 💡 4 days 3 nights travel plan (for people who have no money but have heart) ⸻ 💤 Day 1 — Arrive at midnight, the airport is cold, but keep going • ✈️ Landed at Changi at midnight • No place to stay, so sat in front of McDonald’s all night, tried to sleep, but it was too cold to sleep • Traveled into the city in the morning by MRT • Passed Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, but they were not open yet • Waited until 10am, then walked to find a very cheap street food shop • 🏨 Stayed at: 5footway.inn Project Chinatown 2 • Leave the bag first because you can’t check in yet • Good location, very close to MRT and Chinatown • 🛕 Continue to Buddha Tooth Relic Temple • Pray for a smooth journey And make life ahead better • 🦁 Walk to Merlion Park • Stand and look at the water-spouting lions, thinking to yourself, "Even though we don't have much... we've arrived." • 🌙 In the evening, come back to eat a single-dish meal at Chinatown and then take a nap to regain your strength. ⸻ 🏛 Day 2 — All-day museum and special meal with relatives • 🎟 Visit the National Museum of Singapore • If you like history and beautiful exhibitions, don't miss it. • Inside, there are both multimedia zones and interesting antiques. • Very suitable for those who are on a budget because the entrance fee is not expensive but you get a lot. • 🍲 Lunch: A relative who works in Singapore took me to eat Bak Kut Teh at a famous restaurant. • I was touched by both the taste and the kindness that helped fill the day of those who had no budget. • 💦 Walk in line at the Fountain of Wealth • The Fountain of Wealth... People with no money come to ask for wealth. It's hopeful. • 🌇 Evening, enjoy the view at Gardens by the Bay • This time, I got in. The view from the Skywalk in the evening is the best. • Take some photos, collect lots of memories. ⸻ 🎢 Day 3 — A day to let go and have fun at Universal Studios Singapore • 🏰 Full-day trip to USS • Even though the budget is limited, I intend to spend a full day at the theme park. • Advantages of coming alone: I get to use the Single Rider channel, which allows me to play all kinds of rides very quickly. • It's as fun as other people, but I pay less (and don't have to wait for anyone). • 🍛 Evening, come back to eat something easy at Chinatown. • I don't have the energy to walk far, and I'm running out of money. Or if you really don't have one, you can use cash. 🚎There are 2 types of buses: single-decker and double-decker. The air conditioning is cool and comfortable to sit in. It arrives on time according to the map. And the bus stop will tell you which lines stop at this stop. ✅When boarding the bus, you must board at the front and get off at the back. You must tap the card both when getting on and off. If there is not enough money in the card, an error will appear when tapping. You can use cash. Normally, the bus fare is between 0.73 and 1.66 Singapore dollars. ‼️You can check the map to see which bus lines to take. It will tell you everything. #TravelTalk 😲Who said Singapore has to be expensive? Try visiting Mustafa Centre, a shopping mall that budget-minded people will love! This mall is not a luxury mall, similar to Lotus or Big C in our country, but it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and never turns off the lights. It is located in the heart of Little India. There is so much stuff. We walked around for hours and still couldn't finish it all! 🏬 This place is like a warehouse of products from many continents. The prices are better than other malls in Singapore for many things, including electronics, cheap authentic perfumes, great-priced drinks, clothes, toys, household items, and many more. I can't even type them all😂 🍫 Lots of souvenirs: Various brands of chocolate, Indian snacks, tea, spices, and small items that you can buy and give to your whole office. ⏰ Recommended time to go: Late at night to early morning, when there are not many people, so you can walk comfortably without having to squeeze in because the walkways are quite narrow. ✨ Things to know: You can also use Youtrip to swipe your card, but some shops don't accept credit cards. The view looking up is very beautiful🌳🍃 ✨I recommend coming early in the morning. If you come late, you will definitely have to wait in a long line. Even though we arrived at around 7 am, when the light started to shine beautifully, there were already about 10 people waiting in line. Let me tell you that the soy sauce chicken rice here has a well-rounded taste, soft meat, bouncy skin, and very fragrant sauce. 🐷The roast pork and crispy pork are also equally good. The vibe here is loud in a good way — lively music, sizzling sounds from the open kitchen, and a quick-moving queue of burrito lovers. There’s a mix of solo diners, couples, and small groups tucking into bowls, tacos, and wraps, all under the warm yellow glow of the signage and that unmistakable GYG buzz. It’s not the place you’d go for a slow, quiet meal — but for a quick flavour bomb with energy, it hits the spot. We got the classic burrito — packed, warm, and just the right amount of messy. The rice was fluffy, the beans creamy, and the meat (we went with grilled chicken) was well-seasoned and tender. Wrapped in a soft tortilla with melted cheese, guac, and salsa, every bite was loaded. You could taste a little of everything without one thing overpowering the rest. It’s the kind of burrito that leaves you full but still craving one more bite. There’s not a lot of seating, but we were lucky to grab a counter spot. It’s functional — high stools, quick turnover — but that suits the place. We’ve heard about their handcrafted gelato and clean white aesthetic, and it didn’t disappoint. The space is quiet and calming, with lots of natural light, wooden stools, and a simple setup that feels inviting without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend an hour chatting or just people-watching with a scoop in hand. We went for two scoops: matcha and white chrysanthemum with cocoa bits. The matcha had a deep, earthy flavour — not overly sweet, which we loved. The white chrysanthemum was more unexpected. It was light, slightly floral, and the little cocoa bits added a nice crunch and contrast. Definitely something we’d get again. We had both scoops on a waffle, which came warm and crisp outside, soft and fluffy inside. The gelato slowly melted into the grooves of the waffle — absolutely perfect with every bite. It wasn’t crowded when we visited, which made the whole experience feel even more relaxed. A quiet afternoon, a good waffle, and gelato that’s just a little different from the usual. We’ll definitely be back to try more.
