The Hungry Tapir
#Kuala Lumpur Travel 📖 Day in KL: Chilling out at The Hungry Tapir
The Hungry Tapir is another cafe that I didn't think I would fall in love with this much 💗
At first, I just wanted to try vegan, but when I got there, it turned out to be one of the places I'd recommend the most in Kuala Lumpur!
⸻
🕰️ Open-Close
⏰ Everyday 10:00 - 22:00
During the day, you'll get beautiful natural light, but in the evening, it turns into a light restaurant-bar with beautiful, warm lighting.
⸻
📍 Location & How to Get There
The shop is located at 135 Jalan Petaling in Chinatown, in the heart of KL.
🚇 Take the MRT to Pasar Seni and walk for only 5 minutes.
It's also close to Central Market — you can walk around and then stop here without having to detour.
⸻
🏖️ Atmosphere of the shop
💓 The pink color outside and inside the shop is very eye-catching!
A bit of a boho, minimalist, and tropical style
Cute wooden tables, flower vases, lots of green plants, no matter how you take pictures, it's good
There are both air-conditioned and outdoor areas that are cool and breezy, not crowded even though it's in the city
⸻
💰 Budget
We went with 2 friends, ordered main dishes + drinks, around 400-500 baht/person
It may seem a bit high, but when you pay, you feel "Hey, it's worth it!" because every dish tastes really good, the ingredients are fresh, and it doesn't feel like vegan food at all
⸻
💞 Why do I like it?
– Jungle Laksa has a strong smell, I finished the whole bowl without realizing it
– Pink Bomb Burger is very cute, the bread is pink and the taste is strong
– Coffee and matcha are also okay. What I like is that the staff knows the menu very well, speaks well, and doesn't rush
– The vegan cake is neat! Not too sweet
– Every dish is creative, you can tell that the shop really cares
⸻
🗓️ Plan before going
✔️ Go before noon to take the best pictures Because of the natural light
✔️ If you want to go on Friday or Saturday evening, you may want to book in advance because there are more people.
✔️ Suitable for those who love taking pictures, those who love clean food, or those who want to change the atmosphere in a unique way.
