Halong Bay, known as the "Guilin on the Sea", is listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the New World. Now that you are in Hanoi, how can you not come and see it? However, it seems that you have to leave Hanoi early in the morning and return on the same day, which seems to lose the leisure of a free trip. I decided to take a seven-person minibus to Halong a day earlier, explore the surroundings, and join a local one-day tour the next day. It is said to be a one-day cruise, but the actual gathering time is around 12 noon and ends at 5:30 in the evening. It can only be barely called a half-day tour! Since we were in an English tour group, after meeting the tour guide, all the fellow travelers were foreign Europeans and Americans, and we deeply experienced the scene of "Chinese hiding from the sun, while foreigners basking in the sun" It was lunch time as soon as we got on the boat. A simple set meal kicked off the journey, and then we went to the classic three islands: Ti-top, Ba Hang Floating and Surprise Cave We chose to play in the water at Ti-top. The clean and cool sea water and white sand made the children have a lot of fun We chose a multi-person bamboo raft for Ba Hang Floating. Fortunately, we chose this choice. We saw that the tourists paddling canoes were hit by the bamboo raft and were shaken left and right, and we were a little worried about their safety The strange rocks and stalactites in the Surprise Cave opened up the children's imagination. From turtles to monkeys to rabbits, they all appeared beside them Snacks, fruits, tea and ice towels on the return trip solved the heat outside in time The short half-day tour was very fulfilling, and the cost was much cheaper than the overnight boat. Three Days and Two Nights in Ha Long Bay When deciding between staying overnight on a boat or on land, I chose to stay on land! Apart from the cost factor, there are limited options for four-person rooms on boats, which isn't very convenient for families like ours with two kids. This time, we chose the Ha Long Watson Luxury Hotel. Upon arrival, the staff promptly assisted us with our luggage and guided us to the reception desk. The reception staff were very attentive, introducing us to the hotel's facilities. Although check-in was originally scheduled for 2 PM, we were able to check in earlier as the room was ready ahead of time, allowing us to rest comfortably in the scorching midday heat! The staff also helped deliver our luggage to the room and explained how to use the various appliances, which was very thoughtful! We stayed on the 23rd floor on the seaside. The room was spacious, and even the bathroom had a full glass wall, offering a unique experience of watching the traffic below while using the restroom 🤭. The hotel features a rooftop pool, a sky bar, a children's playroom, a spa, and a gym—everything you could possibly need. It's also conveniently located near the port and Sun World, with plenty of seafood restaurants nearby to enjoy! Not far from the hotel, there's a highly-rated spa on Google where the staff speaks Chinese. We visited and had a great experience! The pictures show the view from the balcony and the bathroom.
