Wat Tha Ton, Purple Glass Pagoda
When visiting Mae Ai, a place you shouldn't miss is "Wat Tha Ton" because it is another peaceful temple and many people often come to practice Dhamma. The atmosphere here is very good. Wat Tha Ton has 9 floors to stop at and when you reach the 8th floor, which is the glass pagoda, you will be able to see the view of almost the entire Tha Ton village.
Most people who pass by often call the glass pagoda of Wat Tha Ton "Purple pagoda" or "Pink pagoda". The glass pagoda is decorated with different colored glass and is painted with 9 colors: purple, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, gold and silver. The reflection on the top of the glass pagoda is made of stainless steel.
When you reach the 8th floor, don't forget to drive up the hill a little bit to go to the 9th floor of the temple (some people only go to the 8th floor because the way to the 9th floor is a bit steep but not too much, small motorcycles can drive comfortably). When you reach the 9th floor, you will see the wider area of Ban Tha Ton and the flow of the Kok River. The scenery is really good and you will be able to see both the Thai and Burmese sides. And the most important thing is to see the source of the Kok River, another important river in the North. Its origin comes from the mountains north of Kok City, Chiang Tung Province, Burma.
If anyone passes by this area, stop by to make merit and worship the Buddha because this place is also an educational institution for monks, novices, and youths. It is a drug rehabilitation center and helps hill tribe people. Please stop by to make merit.
