Last time I went on a self-drive trip to Mount Fuji, I visited many attractions I wouldn’t usually visit. This time I’m going to introduce you to Flower City Park, located in Yamanashi Prefecture. This park requires a fee to enter, 600Yen for adults and 240Yen for children. The park is large, planted with a wide variety of flowers, and is divided into indoor and outdoor exhibition areas. I went to the outdoor exhibition area this time perfectly missed the flowering period,  only sporadic flowers can be for me to take pictures; and indoor because it is a greenhouse, there are many flowers blooming beautifully! 3 minutes by car from Yamanakako IC. Located on the shores of Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, Mos Camp Field is a campsite created by a flower farmer, with a great view of Mt. Fuji right in front of you. Moreover, it is located in what can be called the center of Lake Yamanaka, and there are many large supermarkets, day-trip hot springs, convenience stores, and restaurants, so it is very convenient. The campsite plans consist of three types of auto sites, cabins, and trailer houses. The facilities include toilets, a management building, showers (unlimited use), and a kitchen, all of which are new and very well maintained. This time, we chose the Botanical plan, which is located in front of the green plaza, among the auto sites. The location, where Mt. Fuji stands out across the green, is recommended for those who want to see Mt. Fuji. There are two rows here, with divided sites next to the plaza and behind it, and the sites are first come first served. If you want to secure a spot next to the plaza, it is essential to check in early. On the day, even though it was clear, Mt. Fuji was covered in clouds on the top and the whole area, so it was difficult to see its majestic figure, but just after sunrise, we could see the beautiful red Fuji. Hanato Park is located in Yamanakako Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, about 30 minutes by bus from Fujikyu Line Fujisan Station. The park is divided into free and paid areas, which have large flower fields covering 300,000 square meters. And with an all-weather temperature-controlled greenhouse environment and ample water supply, the tropical plants and orchids of Hechen can be enjoyed here all year round. We probably came around mid-July and the whole hilltop was covered with centipedes. Starting from Tokyo by car, it took us about 4 hours to finally arrive at "Hana-no-Miyako Park" near Lake Yamanaka. Walking into the sunflower field in full bloom, we were all deeply moved by the breathtaking view before us. The entire Hana-no-Miyako Park requires an admission ticket, but this sunflower field is open to the public for free. It's truly a heartfelt and generous attraction! Took a direct bus to Kawaguchiko to explore nearby areas and catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. When we reach the station, we took a vintage internal red bus to Yamanakako Hananomiyako Flower Park. Paid for a ticket to the park and we get to see the beautiful Mount Fuji among blue nemophila flowers. We come to here by car, a big parking is opposite this Park main entry, you can enjoy seasonal flowers for free (there is also a paid zone). I took a bus from Kawaguchiko Station and went to Hana no Miyako Park!! It was late August, so the sunflowers were in full bloom, and I was overwhelmed by the sunflowers that were bigger than me🥹🌟 In the park, there were shops selling ice cream and other things, and bicycle rentals!! There's so many resources out there sharing the best spot to view Mount Fuji and I must say this is the best one yet! Yamanaka is home to one of the five lakes surrounding Mt. Fuji. I decided to give this place a try as I prefer less touristy spots. This lake is 20-40mins bus ride from Mt Fuji station (I recommend checking the bus timetable as the frequency is quite limited). There are 2 main things you can do there: 1. Rent a bicycle 2. Rent a swan boat Both will provide you a stunning view of Mt. Fuji but the bicycle will give you speed to travel around Yamanaka - best part is there's already bicycle pathways around the place. We rented a bicycle for ¥700/hour and cycled 10 minutes up to Yamanakako Hana no miyako Kouen(Flower Park). We followed the bicycle path along the right side of Katsura river. The enterance fee was ¥600/pax and it was so worth it! Hana no miyako Kouen is a 300,000 square meters of flower field with a stunning view of Mt. Fuji as your backdrop. We went in May which the last month to enjoy the ice cap on the mountain! The unique thing about this park is the different type of flowers that is planted during each season. There is also a Japanese-style garden, lava tree type basement experience zone, waterfall of Myojin, and a water playground for kids! I recommend bringing a picnic mat and some snacks from the grocery store (Ogino) nearby to have a lovely and zen afternoon lunch/tea.
