However, this classical-style building is beautifully designed and appears to have been constructed with great care—it's quite impressive. The first floor is a square hall connecting the north and south roads, each with a "Wenchang Pavilion" plaque. I didn't look closely at what stories the reliefs on the architraves depict. The second floor has projecting pavilions in four directions with upturned eaves, showing Tang and Song dynasty style. The dragon heads at the corner beams have mythical beast mouths holding dragon pearls, with rather blank expressions. "Gaipusangma" is hung on the north side and "Juchengwuwu" on the south. Above is an octagonal, multi-tiered pointed roof. You should be able to climb up for a view, but unfortunately, the door was closed, so I'm not sure exactly how many floors there are. Looking back while descending the hill, I noticed that the "Wenchang Pavilion" inscription was actually by Chen Hongshu, a famous Ming Dynasty painter and calligrapher from Fengqiao.
