Royal Vibes and River Breezes at Punakha Dzong
#summervacay Okay, Punakha Dzong is straight-up majestic. This place looks like it popped out of a storybook. Sitting right between two rivers, with mountains in the background, it’s basically Bhutan’s version of a castle, and yeah, it totally delivers.
The wooden bridge leading to the entrance already sets the tone, and once you're inside? Whoa. The whitewashed walls, giant courtyards, and golden-roofed towers are seriously photogenic. Monks in red robes walking around just add to the whole peaceful and sacred vibe.
Even if you’ve seen other dzongs, Punakha’s got that extra charm. It’s grand but not overwhelming, and the setting makes it feel super chill. Plus, if you catch it during spring, the jacaranda trees are in full purple bloom, absolutely dreamy.
It’s part spiritual site, part royal history, and part Instagram heaven. Take your time wandering, sit by the river after, and just soak it all in. Bhutan doesn’t mess around when it comes to magical spots like this.
