Joshua Tree National Park, USA

We went to Joshua Tree National Park in the US. It's an hour and a half from Los Angeles. We arrived in Palm Springs first, so we drove there. You can tour the park by car or on foot. We entered the park by car at the west entrance, bought tickets ($30 per car), and headed to the north exit.
Joshua Tree was so big and impressive that we really felt like we were in the US. There were big rock mountains and various sights along the way, so we never got bored.

Joshua Tree National Park tour to see the stars from day to night🌵
#TravelPlan #USATravel #JoshuaTreeNationalPark
🚗Palm Springs Wind Farm - Joshua Tree National Park Photo Zone - Joshua Tree Star Gazing
Joshua Tree National Park is a popular tourist destination near LA. It is a unique place with surreal deserts, trees, and rocks. Especially at night, it is a great place to see the stars pouring down. The national park's unique visual appeal makes it a popular location for movies, music videos, album covers, and photo shoots. You may have seen it in the media before, but when you actually visit, you can feel the vast and beautiful nature with your whole body~
First, the first course is Palm Springs Wind Farm. It is a great place to stop by and take pictures on the way to Joshua Tree National Park. The sight of huge wind turbines turning in the vast desert is spectacular.
And a little further, you will arrive at Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua trees have a unique visual appeal that is different from ordinary palm trees. When you take a photo with the blue sky in the background, it looks like you are on a different planet~ You can also take a road shot with the long road in the background where there are not many cars and the road is blocked.
As you explore, time flies and the sun sets! Let's go see the Keys View sunset. It is the highest point you can drive to in Joshua Tree National Park. The sunset and San Jacinto Mountain view from there are the best~ Finally, after the sunset, you can see the stars pouring down. Unfortunately, stars cannot be captured with a phone, so we recommend bringing a DSLR camera! And try to capture the stars with your own eyes.

Joshua Tree National Park — A Surreal Desert Escape 🌵☀️
#summervacay
Visiting Joshua Tree feels like stepping into another world — endless desert, bizarre rock formations, and the iconic Joshua trees, standing tall with their spiky branches for over a hundred years. It’s like a living museum of desert life.
🚗 Getting There:
Roughly a 2-hour drive (200 km) from Los Angeles — an easy day trip.
💵 Entrance Fees:
• $30 per vehicle (up to 4 people)
• If you plan to visit 3+ national parks, consider the $80 Interagency Annual Pass — valid for a whole year at all US national parks.
🕒 Best Time to Visit:
• 3–4 hours is enough if you’re not hiking.
• Late afternoon is perfect — softer sunlight, cooler temps, stunning sunset.
• Stay after dark if you love stargazing — low light pollution makes the night sky incredible.
🌵 Recommended Route (Self-drive):
Enter via Joshua Tree Visitor Center (West Entrance) — closer to the main spots.
Stops along the way:
✔️ Quail Springs & Hidden Valley — Joshua trees and desert landscapes, great for short walks and photos.
✔️ Ryan Mountain Trailhead — Optional short hike with desert views.
✔️ Skull Rock — A giant rock shaped like a skull, cool photo spot.
✔️ Cholla Cactus Garden — A must-see! These cacti glow under the sunlight — but be careful, the spines are super sharp.
✔️ Keys View — The best sunset viewpoint over the valley (arrive 30+ mins before sunset).
✔️ Practical Tips:
✅ Download offline maps — no signal inside the park.
✅ Roads are paved and easy to drive.
✅ Sunscreen and hats are essential — desert sun is intense.
✅ Bring a jacket — it gets chilly after sunset.
Personal highlight:
The Cholla Cactus Garden was magical, especially at sunset when the cacti seem to glow. The whole park feels raw, untouched, and timeless — definitely a summer adventure worth doing.

Mount San Jacinto. A breath of fresh air in California’s desert
Just outside of Palm Springs, California, is the San Jacinto mountain range. Take the cable car all the way up to the top, and you’ll be treated to breathtaking views stretching all the way out across California.
You’ll be able to see where the San Andreas fault line runs through the state. But more than that, you can enjoy the contrast between the arid landscape of the desert mixed the vast wilderness at the top of the mountain range.
It’s a bit of a hidden gem. Well worth a visit whilst travelling across the state of California!

Joshua Tree National Park is located in California, on the border of the Colorado and Mojave deserts. This park is famous for its unique yucca trees, called Joshua Trees. These trees look like unusual palm trees with prickly leaves, although they are actually relatives of lilies. The park is a great place for walks and photos.

#transportation
Planning a visit to Joshua Tree National Park? This desert gem is best explored with some savvy transportation tips to make your adventure smooth and unforgettable.
1. 🚘 Getting There
The park is located in Southern California and is accessible by car from Los Angeles (~2.5 hours) and San Diego (~3 hours).
The two main entrances are in Joshua Tree (West Entrance) and Twentynine Palms (North Entrance). Choose your entry point based on your route or lodging location.
2. 🚐 Getting Around
There’s no public transportation within the park, so renting a car is essential if you’re flying in. A high-clearance vehicle is helpful but not required for most popular spots.

Popular areas like Hidden Valley and Barker Dam fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds.

5. ♻️ Stay Safe & Sustainable
Be mindful of the heat: summer temps soar, so plan hikes early or late.
Carry plenty of water, especially if you’re venturing on longer trails.
✨ Pro Tip: Combine your visit with a scenic drive along Park Boulevard, which connects many iconic sites like Skull Rock, Keys View, and the Cholla Cactus Garden.

Joshua Tree National Park – CA
#springitinerary
Spring in Joshua Tree is surreal and serene. The desert comes alive with blooming cacti, bright yellow brittlebush, and clusters of Joshua tree flowers. I hiked Hidden Valley under perfect blue skies and mild temps, surrounded by giant boulders and twisted trees. The peacefulness here is unreal — no crowds, just birdsong and the occasional lizard. At night, I camped under stars that felt close enough to touch. #springitinerary tip: catch a sunrise at Keys View — unforgettable. If you want solitude, stargazing, and surprising bursts of color in the desert, Joshua Tree in spring is a must!

Lake Elsinore Super Bloom – Lake Elsinore, CA
#springitinerary
Spring at Lake Elsinore during the super bloom was unreal — rolling hills blanketed in bright orange poppies stretching as far as the eye could see! I hiked up Walker Canyon, where golden fields mixed with purple lupines and yellow mustard flowers. The air smelled sweet, and every step offered a fresh photo-worthy view. Crowds came, but early morning made it feel peaceful and magical. #springitinerary tip: go on a weekday and wear sturdy shoes — the trails can get steep and dusty. If you love wildflowers and dramatic hillsides, this is spring heaven!

Joshua Tree Kiss View and Skull Rock feel like scenes from a movie.
Joshua Tree was a place that offered a pause for my weary heart from the city. The desert, which I thought would be barren, instead felt warm and comforting. The landscape lined with Joshua trees looked like a scene straight out of a movie. I took photos under the crimson sky at sunset, and the interplay of light and shadow created an artistic atmosphere. At night, I enjoyed wine while gazing at the stars from a quiet accommodation where only the sound of the wind could be heard. I kept looking up at the sky until I fell asleep. It's definitely a place you should visit at least once, whether alone or with someone you love.

A fulfilling day at Joshua Tree
During my trip to Joshua Tree, I visited Skull Rock, a place I had always wanted to see. The rock truly resembles a skull, which was both fascinating and slightly eerie, making it a memorable spot. The rock is enormous, and standing close to it makes you feel its grandeur even more. It's incredible how nature can create such intricate and unique formations. There are trails around Skull Rock that are perfect for a light walk. Despite the intense sunlight and the dry desert environment, the scenery created by the Joshua trees and rocks was breathtaking.
As evening approached, the sky began to turn red, and the moment the sun set, the Joshua trees blended with the sunset to create a truly mesmerizing view. Just gazing at it in silence felt healing. This day was truly a gift from nature. From Skull Rock to the sunset and the Joshua trees, it was a meaningful day.

Cholla Cactus Garden – Joshua Tree NP, CA
#springitinerary
The Cholla Cactus Garden in spring? Like walking through a field of golden light! These "teddy bear" chollas glow at sunrise, and tiny pink and yellow desert blooms added unexpected pops of color during my visit. The air was cool and crisp — ideal for wandering the boardwalk without the summer heat. Pro tip: wear closed shoes, those cacti are spiky up close! I stayed after sunset and watched the sky explode with stars — spring nights in Joshua Tree are incredible. #springitinerary gold if you love unique landscapes and peace.

Joshua Tree National Park: A Desert Wonderland!
Visiting Southern California, Joshua Tree National Park was undoubtedly the most breathtaking stop on my West Coast trip! 🌵 The day before, we booked an Airbnb in the nearby Joshua Tree town. The house had a unique local charm, and at night, we could gaze at a sky full of stars✨. The next morning, we set off full of energy to explore the park!
【Transportation & Itinerary】
We opted for a self-drive trip 🚗, and it took less than half an hour to reach the park's west entrance from our Airbnb. Driving through the park was incredibly convenient, with the scenery constantly changing. Every turn revealed a new natural wonder.
【Must-See Spots & Surprises】
A must-visit is the famous "Skull Rock" 💀, which looks like a naturally carved skull. It's so fun to take photos next to it! Besides the fascinating rock formations, the park is filled with Joshua trees, various cacti, and desert plants, giving you the feeling of stepping onto an alien planet.
The biggest surprise was spotting a rare Desert Tortoise 🐢 on our drive back! We never expected to encounter such an endangered species in the wild—what a lucky moment!
【Travel Tips】
Plan to arrive before sunset to enjoy the stunning light and shadows on the rocks✨. At night, you can also marvel at the starry sky with zero light pollution. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes—this desert adventure is absolutely worth it!
