All Trip Moments about Rye
Mornington Peninsula, Vic 🇦🇺
The Mornington Peninsula is a peninsula located south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is surrounded by Port Phillip to the west, Western Port to the east and Bass Strait to the south, and is connected to the mainland in the north. Geographically, the peninsula begins its protrusion from the mainland in the area between Pearcedale and an area north of Frankston. The area was originally home to the Mayone-bulluk and Boonwurrung-Balluk clans and formed part of the Boonwurrung nation's territory prior to European settlement.
The peninsula is primarily a local tourist region, with popular natural attractions such as the variety of beaches both sheltered and open-sea and many scenic sights and views. Other popular attractions include the various wineries, mazes and the diverse array of water sports made available by the diversity of beaches and calm waters of Port Phillip and Western Port. Most visitors to the peninsula are residents of Melbourne who camp, rent villas and share houses or stay in private beach houses.
Whitecliffs Rainbow House: An isolated coastal palette
In White Cliffs on the west coast of the Mornington Peninsula, there is a small and dreamy landscape - the Rainbow Fisherman's Cottage. Unlike the popular rainbow house on Brighton Beach, the more than ten wooden houses here are scattered along the original coastline. The mottled paint contrasts with the chalk cliffs and the blue bay in the sun, just like colorful building blocks washed ashore by the waves.
Highlights
▸ Wild beauty: Most of the huts are fishermen's storage rooms. They are not deliberately decorated. The faded paint and wood texture reveal the traces of time, forming a unique contrast with the wilderness-like coastal landforms.
▸ Secret experience: Due to the remote location (near the Safe Harbor Pier), there are few tourists, and you can enjoy the entire beach and the beautiful sunset alone.
▸ Photography Paradise: At tide, the reflection of the hut is reflected on the wet sand, and every shot is an oil painting texture interwoven with nature and humanity.
Tips
📍 Navigate to the vicinity of "White Cliffs Safety Beach" and explore along the trail
🌊 It is recommended to go at low tide, the beach is more open
🚗 It is about 1.5 hours' drive from Melbourne, suitable for connecting with the Mornington Peninsula itinerary
These rainbow houses are the art created unintentionally by coastal workers, interpreting the most authentic romance of the Australian coast - rough, free, and full of vitality. #summervacay#naturalwonders #myitinerary #beachlife #thingstodo #travel #familytravel
