And it is! It’s where the king works and big national ceremonies go down. The vibe is formal but still really peaceful. If you go in the late afternoon, the whole place glows in the golden light and it looks like a scene out of a fantasy movie. Seriously, the lighting is next level. You can’t explore every nook since it’s an actual working government building, but the open areas and the main temple are beautiful. Monks in red robes, carved woodwork everywhere, and prayer wheels spinning quietly in the background, it’s a vibe. It’s a nice mix of spiritual and official, and definitely worth a stroll if you’re hanging around Thimphu. Fancy but chill, Bhutan style!

#summervacay Dochula Pass is one of those spots where you just wanna pull over, breathe in deep, and go, “Dang, this is unreal.” Sitting up at over 3,000 meters between Thimphu and Punakha, it’s got all the dreamy vibes, think misty mountains, chilly breeze, and clouds literally drifting past your face. The main highlight? Those 108 chortens (stupas) stacked perfectly in a circle on a hill. They’re beautiful, peaceful, and just feel… sacred. And when the sky’s clear (which is a bit of a gamble, tbh), you get this killer panoramic view of the Himalayan snow peaks. Honestly, it’s the kind of view that makes you stop talking for a sec. There’s a small café nearby too, grab a hot tea and just sit there soaking it all in. No need to rush. Whether it’s sunny or wrapped in fog, Dochula’s got its own quiet magic. It’s not just a pass, it’s a whole mood. Definitely worth the stop!
