This moving site is where the old slave market once stood, now part of the Anglican Cathedral. You’ll see holding chambers and memorial sculptures that really hit you emotionally. Entry is about $5 with a guide included. You can choose to explore at your own pace as well, which I preferred. If you go with a local guide—they share deep, personal insights. Any budget can find peace in Zanzibar island ; we had a great time visiting prison island and meet the giant tortoise 🐢🐢. I highly recommend to visit this island as African first place to visit if your from western part 😉

During one of the day tours in zanzibar, we took a boat over to prison Island. The boat ride was really nice and relaxing and on the way back we had the lovely sunset to appreciate. Our tour guide told us the history about the island which was very insightful and then took us in to see the tortoise, gosh they're huge! We were able to get up close and touch and feed them which was a great experience too. #zanzibar

Stone Town, Zanzibar is the birth place of music icon Freddie Mercury and the house that he was born in has been turned into a museum. Located in the centre of Stone Town, it costs 10 USD to enter and you can pay by card as well as cash. The museum documents his rise to fame including his links to Zanzibar and some of the great music that he performed as part of the band Queen!
