The Afrosiyob high-speed train is undoubtedly one of the best investments made by the Uzbek government. These Spanish-built high-speed trains connect Tashkent with Samarkand and Bukhara, with each journey taking just over 2 hours. On certain sections, they run at speeds well above 200 km/h! Tickets can be purchased online. Just log in to keep checking availability. Please note that tickets do sell out quickly. The Afrosiyob train offers economy class seats in a 2+2 configuration (two seats on each side of the aisle), while business class and VIP seats are in a 1+2 configuration. Even in economy class, we enjoyed small snacks like tea and banana-flavored donuts, along with complimentary tea, coffee, or water. If possible, purchase seats on the left side of the train in the direction of travel (if heading west), as the left side of the train offers impressive true desert landscapes for most of the route. Observing the gradual change in scenery has always been one of my favorite reasons for train travel, as it allows you to better understand the geography, and thus the culture and history of a country. This is especially true for Bukhara, as the city is built on a desert oasis. The Afrosiyob high-speed train provides a fast, pleasant, and comfortable way to travel in Uzbekistan. Since this train connects major tourist destinations in Uzbekistan, such as Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, you may find yourself taking at least one Afrosiyob train during your travels in Uzbekistan.

#myitinerary I recently went in Uzbekistan with my boyfriend and stayed 8 days. Here following the results of many months of researches, I hope it can be helpful: Day 1 - 2 Samarkand - Amir timur mausoleum - Registan square with its 3 madrasah, i suggest you to visit it after 5-6 PM for the sunset - Bibi khanym mosque - Syoob bazar - Hazrat mosque - Shah-I-zinda mausoleum In my opinion, the most beautiful one it is Shah-I-zinda mausoleum and the Registan is just breathtaking. *The names of the attractions could be a bit different due to differences of translation from the Cyrillic to Roman letters. If you have time you could visit also: - Tomb of Daniel - Ulubek observatory - Paper making factory - Pottery factory Day 3 Tashkent - Subway stations, they were mostly built during the Soviet time and you can feel it. All stops are decorated differently, the oldest ones and the most beautiful ones are on the red and blue lines. My favorite subway stations were: alisher navoi and kosmonatvlar - Eat Plov at Besh Qozon under the Tashkent Television Tower, you won’t regret it! - Chorsu bazar 🚂 🌜night train from Tashkent to Khiva - around 16-17 hours Day 4 Khiva The old city of Khiva is called Ichan Kala and is quite small and walkable. I suggest you to book your stay inside the city or just out of city walls. - Khuna ark - City wall - Tash kauli palace - Pahlavan Mahmoud mausoleum - Islam khodja minaret - Juma mosque FYI there’s one cumulative ticket for almost all museums and palaces/mosques in Ichan Kala. The price is 200k som. We had dinner at Old Terrassa, the food was amazing and the view very good. From the restaurant Terrassa, which is probably 100 meters more central than old Terrassa the view is very great! I recommend to book in advance the table outside. Day 5 - 6 Bukhara - Kalon minaret by night - Chor minor - Ulugh beh & abdulaziz khan madrassa - Ark of Bukhara - Bolo- Hausa mosque I recommend to eat in Old Bukhara restaurant, good food and environment. Day 7 Nurata - desert - swim in the Aydarl lake - stay in a local yurt or guesthouse The last day of activities we decided to go to Nurota and have a tour in desert and see the Ayrdal Lake, because in the whole trip it missed a bit of nature for us. We organized the whole trip with a tour guide, that came to Bukhara to pick us up and drove us in the desert and to lake. The lake is immense and clean. I went to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and Samarkand, a famous tourist destination! -I was surprised at how cheap the prices were. A taxi ride costs ¥100 to ¥500. Tourist fees and souvenirs were also very cheap. (However, be careful of rip-offs targeting tourists) -In Samarkand, you can see a lot of scenery that you can't see in Japan! If you like world history, this is a must-visit spot. -In Uzbekistan, plov is famous. At the "Plov Center" (also known as Besh Qozon) near the TV tower, you can eat plov cooked in a large pot. -People tend to think that Uzbekistan is unsafe, but that's not true at all. If you take minimum precautions such as being careful of pickpockets, I think you can enjoy sightseeing a lot. This is a special attraction in Uzbekistan. It is a very unique environment. There are many ancient buildings. It still has the feeling of a college. I recommend everyone to come here for a walk. It is a 50-yuan place that you can't miss. If you have the opportunity to come to this place, you must visit it if you can't go abroad.

I ate a lot of delicious food in Uzbekistan, so I'd like to introduce it to you. 🥘 Plov Plov is a popular dish, and it's a dish where vegetables, rice, and meat are fried in a huge amount of oil, almost like deep-frying. The hotel owner kept saying that it's a dish that gives you strength during the cold season! The taste is very good! I liked it so much that I ate it several times this time. 🍗Shashlik It's meat skewers. It's a big version of the yakitori that we have in Japan. One or two skewers will fill you up. My recommendation is lamb! Goes really well with beer! 🍺 🥘 Laghman You might think it's a soup made from stewed meat and vegetables, but it has noodles like udon inside! It was so delicious that I ate it every day at the same restaurant. I think it's the easiest dish for Japanese people to eat in Uzbekistan. I took a night train from Bukhara, a popular city in Uzbekistan, to Khiva❗️The departure time was 2:20am. I was scared to even take a taxi to the station at that time😂, but I arrived safely. I made the reservation through the Uzbekistan Railway app. You can also purchase tickets at the counter, but I recommend purchasing in advance as seats fill up easily. I made the reservation a few days in advance, but the first class seats were already full🈵 I reserved a second class four-person sleeping car. Bedding is provided free of charge. There is also a toilet. Express trains other than night trains serve tea and snacks depending on the seat rank. There were also times when people came to sell fruit and ice cream. A week in Uzbekistan? Yes, please. We started and finished our trip in Tashkent where most international flights arrive. Must see: Tashkent metro and market. Then, we took a train to Samarkand, an architectural gem of a city! After two nights here, we took a train to Bukhara. A similar vibe but a different experience - it's well worth it to do both even if for a day. From here, we hired a driver to take us to Khiva. Along the ride, we visited Ayal Kala - so, so worth it! Then, two nights in Khiva. Not much to do here - just enjoy the beautiful, intricate buildings and the general vibe. Finally, a flight back to Tashkent (you can also opt for the train). I would have liked to take a detour to Turkmenistan and go further to visit the Aral sea. However, we didn't have the time on this trip. #uzbekistan #tashkent #khiva

The smiling faces of those who welcome travelers as "mehmon (valued guests)" create a heart-to-heart exchange that transcends language barriers. If you are invited into a home, you will always be served mellow tea and homemade "non" bread. In the market, merchants exchange friendly conversations while offering samples of their products. At weddings and festivals, they invite strangers to join in the dance. The daily life of Uzbekistan, where good old traditions and modernity coexist, taught the busy modern person the importance of human connections, and it was a valuable experience for me.

I highly recommend everyone to come to Uzbekistan, it is really a very safe place. But there are some things you need to prepare/pay attention to when going to this place. 1. About phone cards: I was so prepared that I bought a 10-day Uzbek phone card on Taobao, which cost about 90 RMB. It turned out that the SIM card at the airport was only 30 RMB for ten days and it worked very smoothly. I recommend buying a SIM card when you arrive. 2. About currency exchange: After arriving, you can find a place to exchange money at the airport, but because the line is very long, I gave up. But there are ATMs everywhere where you can exchange money. Please note that you should prepare US dollars, and then you can put US dollars into the ATM to exchange for local currency. Since local prices are really affordable, I only exchanged 200 US dollars for a six-day trip. Apart from buying souvenirs, US dollars are sufficient for basic consumption. (Figure 3) 3. About transportation: Taxis are very cheap here! The most expensive trip takes 45 minutes and only costs more than 40 RMB. For a journey of less than 15 minutes, RMB 10 is basically enough. Google Maps isn't very accurate here. 5. About hotels: After completing your stay at each hotel, remember to ask the hotel for a white slip of paper, which is similar to a document proving your stay.
