Summer is the perfect time to indulge in a lively Japanese teppanyaki feast

Hanjiang Road in Changzhou is known as a street full of Japanese-style eateries, housing many small Japanese restaurants. This particular spot combines both Japanese cuisine and teppanyaki, offering not only an all-you-can-eat option but also set meals (since those with smaller appetites might not get their money's worth with the buffet). The traditional wooden decor spans two floors, with private rooms on both levels, providing a decent level of privacy. Even in summer 🍃, it doesn’t feel too hot thanks to the strong air conditioning. The food arrives at a moderate pace, and we opted for the set menu. ✔️ Sashimi Platter: The salmon 🐟 is thick and fresh, the sweet shrimp comes with roe, and the scallops and abalone are refreshingly light—perfect with the restaurant’s wasabi soy sauce. ✔️ Teppanyaki Black Tiger Shrimp: The shrimp 🍤 is tender with a rich buttery flavor. ✔️ Beef Teppanyaki Fried Rice: The fried rice is perfectly separated, with beef cubes and tongue mixed in, giving it an extra aroma from the teppan grill. ✔️ Grilled Oysters: The oysters 🦪 are plump and juicy, paired with garlic sauce to cut the fishiness. ✔️ Sukiyaki Hot Pot: The broth isn’t overly sweet, and the tofu absorbs more flavor as it simmers. I especially enjoyed the cabbage inside, and the beef 🥩 portion was just right. ✔️ Foie Gras Sushi: Topped with mango 🥭, it’s rich and decadent in one bite. ❌ Grilled Cod: Unfortunately, it was quite fishy. Though boneless, it wasn’t prepared well and even had a slight bitter aftertaste. ❌ Grilled Durian: A bit too heavy and overly charred—not very tasty.
