Cinque Terre is definitely worth a visit!

#Valentine's Day 2025 Cinque Terre, whose full name is Cinque Terre National Park, consists of five villages scattered in the area, including Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. It has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Cinque Terre is a national park with a total area of ​​4,300 hectares. It is the smallest but most densely populated national park in Italy, with about 5,000 residents living in these five villages. For hundreds of years, in order to obtain enough flat land on the steep hillsides to grow cash crops such as grapes, olives, lemons and vegetables, people here have used human power to open up terraces and build earth walls, changing the appearance of this land. This earth wall is 7,000 kilometers long, which is almost the same length as the Great Wall of China. Even this farming method and agricultural landscape have been preserved to this day, so it is called a "living landscape." What’s interesting is that the five villages are located on a terrain with mountains behind and the sea in front. In fact, they are real rural areas. The residents have been engaged in farming for generations, and the ocean part is connected to the outside world and transports agricultural products by ships. In order to defend against pirate invasions over the past few hundred years, the alleys of the Cinque Terre, which were built on the mountains, were deliberately designed to be winding, complex and narrow. Although the village is not big, walking in the alleys will give you the illusion of being lost. Fortresses and lighthouses are set up at the commanding heights of the village for external defense and maritime navigation.
