Fukuoka Castle Ruins

Fukuoka Castle was built by the feudal lord Nagamasa Kuroda and served as the residence of the Kuroda clan, who governed Fukuoka, until the beginning of the Meiji era in 1868. After World War II, the castle was occupied by American forces. In 1957, the inner castle of Fukuoka was designated as a National Historic Site of Japan, although most of the original structures had already fallen into disrepair, been dismantled, or destroyed by fire. 🚗 Transportation: Located within Maizuru Park in Fukuoka, about 8-15 minutes on foot from Akasaka Station or Ohori Park Station on the subway Airport Line. 💰 Cost: Free
