Pingshan, a landmark of Fuzhou and one of the three mountains, is waiting for you to check in

Fuzhou Pingshan Park is located at the northern foot of Pingshan, one of the three mountains in Fuzhou. It is between Fufei Road and Si'er Pavilion. Its shape is like a screen, so it is called Pingshan. Because the former capital of King Yue was built at the foot of the mountain, it is also called Yuewang Mountain. A tower was built on the mountain in the Ming Dynasty, which was the tallest building in Fuzhou at that time and was also called Zhenhai Tower. Climb up the tower and look out, you can see the mouth of the Minjiang River. According to historical records, Zhenhai Tower was built in the fourth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang sent his son-in-law Wang Gong to Fuzhou to oversee the reconstruction of the city and build the tower on the top of Pingshan Mountain, north of Gulou District, the oldest urban area in Fuzhou. This tower was originally named Yanglou because it served as a sample building for the seven city gate towers in the city. Later, because it was the tallest tower in the city, one could overlook the estuary of the Minjiang River, and it was an important symbol of ships entering and leaving Fuzhou Port. It was said to "overlook the river and control the sea", so it was renamed "Zhenhai Tower".
