Heart of Vietnam

Just got back from a few days in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and wow — what a ride. This city is pure energy. Scooters flying everywhere, food stalls on every corner, and history seeping out of the walls. I started my trip in District 1, where most of the action happens. Visited the War Remnants Museum — powerful and heavy, but a must-see to understand Vietnam’s past. After that, I explored the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral and the old Central Post Office — both remnants of French colonial architecture. Of course, I had to try some bánh mì from a street cart (crispy, spicy, perfect) and grabbed cà phê sữa đá (iced coffee with condensed milk) — probably the best coffee I’ve ever had. In the evenings, I wandered through Bến Thành Market, haggled a bit, and got lost in the maze of local snacks and souvenirs. The nightlife surprised me — rooftop bars, speakeasies, and locals dancing in the parks to K-pop. I also took a half-day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels — crawling through those tiny passageways was wild (and slightly terrifying). Ho Chi Minh City is chaotic in the best way. It’s loud, alive, full of flavor — and somehow, you grow to love the madness. Definitely not a place to rest, but if you want to feel the pulse of Vietnam, this is it.
