Yuquan Courtyard at the foot of Mount Hua

Located at the foot of Mount Hua, Yuquan Courtyard serves as a Taoist activity center and is the essential entry point for hiking to the North Peak of Mount Hua. After the passing of Chen Tuan, a renowned Taoist priest of the Northern Song Dynasty, his disciples built the "Xiyi Shrine" here in his memory. During the Qing Dynasty, the site underwent several expansions and was renamed Yuquan Courtyard. The architecture of Yuquan Courtyard is divided into three sections: east, central, and west. The central section houses the main hall dedicated to Chen Tuan, while the western section features structures such as corridors, a stone boat, and the Shansun Pavilion. The Shansun Pavilion, perched atop a massive rock, is said to have been built by Chen Tuan himself. Beside the pavilion stands the Wuyou Tree, which is believed to have been planted by Chen Tuan. Nestled amidst mountains and waters, Yuquan Courtyard offers a tranquil atmosphere for leisurely exploration. Visitors can also take the opportunity to scout the hiking trail leading up Mount Hua, ensuring a safe and enjoyable nighttime hike to the summit.
