Karlovy Vary: A Unique (and Salty!) Drinking Spa Experience in Czechia! 🇨🇿♨️

#summervacay During my East European adventure, I stumbled upon a truly unique aspect of Karlovy Vary, a charming spa town in the Czech Republic: its famous thermal spring water is not just for bathing, it's actually drinkable! The town is dotted with ornate colonnades and pavilions, each housing different spring outlets (known as "Colonnades" or "Springs"). Locals and tourists alike stroll with specially designed ceramic cups, sipping the warm, mineral-rich water directly from the spouts. It's an integral part of the traditional spa cure here. However, brace yourself for the taste! I found it to be very, very salty and it had a distinctly strong, almost metallic or rusty flavor. While it's certainly an interesting local tradition and part of the wellness experience, I'd strongly advise against drinking too much unless you genuinely enjoy the taste or are following a specific health regimen prescribed by a doctor. It's definitely an acquired palate!
