Ningqiang County Qiang Culture Museum

Ningqiang County in Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, was historically known as "Ningqiang," meaning "peaceful Qiang land," which reflects its deep connection with the Qiang ethnic group. On April 22, 2025, we visited the Ningqiang County Qiang Culture Museum located at Dongshan Observatory in Ningqiang County. The museum has four floors: The "Qiang Origin Hall" on the first floor displays the historical migration of the Qiang people and the ancient Qiang history of Ningqiang—including the history of the Qiang people and an overview of Ningqiang, sculptural groups depicting Qiang migration and life, and sculptures of Ningqiang Qiang history; The "Cultural Relics Hall" on the second floor exhibits numerous cultural and artifact remains left by the local Qiang people throughout their lives; The "Shibi Hall" on the third floor is dedicated to the ancient Qiang "Shibi" culture, consisting of sections showcasing Shibi skills and ritual scenes; The "Qiang Embroidery Hall" on the third floor displays the distinctive embroidery and products of the Ningqiang Qiang people; The "Qiang Family Courtyard" on the fourth floor exhibits Ningqiang Qiang customs. Through text, images, artifacts, scene recreations, and multimedia presentations, we learned about the migration, evolution, daily life, labor, rituals, and beliefs of the Ningqiang Qiang people... a truly rewarding experience!
