Wat Phutthaisawan, the Legend of the Swordsmanship School.

Wat Phutthaisawan is located outside the island city, in the area of Samphao Lom sub-district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district. It was a place for swordsmanship and magical training in the past and has been mentioned in many dramas over time. The temple was favored by King U-Thong, who ordered its construction on the site of his former royal pavilion during his migration to Ayutthaya before the establishment of Ayutthaya as the capital in 1893. The symbol of the temple is the Great Stupa or the main prang, influenced by Khmer art, resembling a corn cob. Other interesting features include the Phutthaisawan Chapel (Reclining Buddha Hall), which now only has walls and the reclining Buddha image, the ordination hall, the residence of the Buddha's chief disciples, the monument of five kings, wall paintings, and more. Wat Phutthaisawan was declared a historical site in 1935 and was established as a royal monastery of the third class, common type, in 2006. It is open to visitors every day from 08:30 to 17:00 hrs.
