Georgian Chronicle Monument

Located on the Kenisi Mountain in the northwest suburbs of Tbilisi, it was built to commemorate the 3000th anniversary of the founding of Georgia and the 2000th anniversary of the spread of Christianity. It was designed by Georgian artist Jurab Chertava in 1981, construction began in 1985, and was basically completed in 2009. It consists of 16 bronze pillars 35 meters high, each of which is wrapped in metal relief. The overall structure is magnificent and gives people a strong visual impact. The content on each bronze column is divided into three layers. The bottom layer is biblical stories, such as Noah's Ark and the Last Supper; the middle layer describes important figures in Georgian history, including saints, kings, priests, diplomats, poets, etc.; the top layer shows Georgia's traditional festivals, such as Harvest Day and Wine Festival.
