A visit to Khai Dinh Tomb: A place where prominence and irony coexist.

Among the many royal tombs in Hue, the one that left the deepest impression on me was undoubtedly Khai Dinh Tomb. While other imperial tombs seemed to harmonize with nature, this one was the epitome of grandeur. It felt less like a tomb and more like a small European-style castle. Interestingly, Emperor Khai Dinh was known for his admiration of French culture and had a strong affinity for Czech influences. As a result, this tomb showcases a unique blend of European and Vietnamese architectural styles. Its opulent design, which deviates from traditional aesthetics, is striking. Understanding this historical context makes the visit even more meaningful.
