Zunyi Travel Guide Recap

Zunyi Trip Recap: Four of us are completely exhausted. Spent three days in Zunyi with good friends! Spontaneous trips like this are not for everyone—unexpected challenges are bound to arise! Here's a travel guide based on my third visit to Zunyi. Trust me, you'll want to take these tips seriously! If you're looking to save money in Zunyi, stick to the Old Town and Xinpu areas. These places are close to the city center, have a lot of local residents, and while prices are slightly cheaper than inland cities, they’re not outrageously low. For accommodations, navigate directly to "Jiulong Yipin Hotel." This area has many new hotels, great natural surroundings, and nearby attractions like Egret Lake Park and Swan Lake Park, which are perfect for photos! For photogenic spots, check out Wujiang Village. Prices are transparent, you can haggle, and spending is more predictable. It's also more professional. For popular attractions like the Zunyi Meeting Site, museums, and Jinding Mountain, make sure to plan ahead online. These places can get crowded and slow-moving, so it's better to visit earlier in the day. I recommend going around 4 PM—it's less hot and less crowded than in the evening. There are also many free attractions. If you have time, visit the Zunyi Meeting Site, Red Army Street, Memorial Park, Phoenix Mountain, museums, and the Creative Pavilion. Jinding Mountain is mainly for hiking, so it's not ideal for families with elderly or young children. Plus, there are no food vendors on the mountain. Zunyi locals have their own "Green Wild Wonderland," a beautiful park that doesn’t require leaving Zunyi. It’s a relatively lesser-known spot, so it’s less crowded than Xinpu. You can rent electric bikes in the park, available for two or four people, and ride around the lake. Alternatively, you can rent a boat (not recommended in summer due to the heat). Be sure to visit the water forest for some great photo opportunities. Zunyi also has its own Green Ocean Lake Park, which is popular among locals. Many stylish young women take beautiful photos here. The park also features lotus flowers, water lilies, and a large water park. On the way to Wujiang Village, we saw a sign and decided to visit the next day—very spontaneous! Without much planning, we just explored as we went. The area isn’t large, there aren’t many tourists, and there’s no entrance fee—just pay for the round-trip electric car ride. Parking is convenient, and as long as the sun isn’t out, it’s quite cool. However, when we went up the mountain, the wind was so strong we had to put on jackets, but then the clouds cleared, and the sun came out to roast us. We didn’t stay long because it got too hot. On cloudy days, it’s much more comfortable. The wind turbines are great for photos—every shot looks amazing. Lastly, there’s the Red Fruit Tree Scenic Area, formerly known as the Longqiao Natural Ecological Scenic Area. The name was inscribed by the famous poet He Jingzhi. Located in Suiyang County, Zunyi City, it’s 42 kilometers from Zunyi City, 180 kilometers from Guiyang, and 270 kilometers from Chongqing. It’s just a 40-minute drive from Zunyi Airport, offering a unique aerial corridor advantage. The scenic area is filled with stunning natural landscapes, all preserved in their original ecological state and connected by various attractions. Highlights include the "Tianyuan Cave," a smooth rock wall over 80 meters long and 5 meters high, and the "Natural Bridge" spanning the river. At the entrance, you’ll find a giant stone inscription of "Longqiao" by He Jingzhi. Beneath the Longtan Mountain cliff, there’s a statue of Laozi and ancient inscriptions of "Laozi’s Water Metaphor" from the Tao Te Ching, conveying Taoist philosophies like "The highest good is like water" and "Virtue carries all things." These cultural elements add depth to the Red Fruit Tree Ecological Scenic Area, which archaeologists have praised as a hidden national treasure in the mountains.
