2025 Huayin Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

| West Up, North Down! Not Tiring at All! Detailed Guide to Mount Hua Routes. Mount Hua has the most spectacular scenery among the Five Great Mountains Mount Hua is famous for its steepness. Hiking up from Yuquan Temple is quite challenging, so most tourists choose to take the cable car up to either the North or West Peak, then hike around all five peaks of Mount Hua before taking another cable car down. ⚠️If you want to climb all five peaks of Mount Hua with ease, I strongly recommend⚠️ going up from the West and down from the North. The West up, North down route is mostly downhill, making it feel much easier. The downside is that you won't be able to climb Canglong Ridge since it's one-way up only. My special itinerary: Stayed in Huayin the night before, went up Mount Hua early the next day, Mount Hua (West up, North down) → Yuquan Temple → West Mountain Temple → Guandi Temple → stayed in Huayin again that night. The fact that I still had energy to visit Yuquan Temple and other attractions in Huayin after coming down from Mount Hua proves that the West up, North down route isn't tiring! This post only covers Mount Hua; I'll update about other attractions in a future Weinan travel guide. See images 2-7 for the specific route. Here's my actual itinerary timeline: [0756] Arrived at Mount Hua East Gate [0810] Boarded the West Peak cable car shuttle bus (regardless of which cable car you take, you need to take a shuttle bus; West Peak and North Peak cable cars have different queues, so be careful not to line up in the wrong one) [0856] Arrived at the cable car lower station (yes, the West Peak shuttle bus takes over 40 minutes) [0909] Boarded the cable car [0923] Arrived at the West Peak cable car upper station [0929] Fork in the path (Image 8 shows a distant view, with the fork in the middle). To the right is West Peak (the highest point in Image 9). Since it was visible and crowded, and not the highest peak of Mount Hua, I skipped it. Going there and back would take about 20 minutes. Recently, I've suddenly become obsessed with the outdoors, so I went on an impromptu trip to Mount Hua 🏔 This isn't my first time challenging Mount Hua. I climbed it once many years ago. This time, I did a night climb, starting at 10:30 PM from Yuquan Courtyard, passing through the North Peak, Central Peak, East Peak, and South Peak, and finally taking the cable car down from the West Peak. It was a twelve-hour journey in total. Along the way, I only took short breaks before continuing, with endless stairs in sight. After a super long, narrow, and steep path, I reached the North Peak. Then, I headed to the East Peak with great enthusiasm to watch the sunrise, but it was so crowded that I couldn't get in. After taking a few random photos, I went to the Chang Kong Plank Road. Climbing the mountain made me realize that a 500-meter path full of stairs can take an hour to complete. I experienced the Chang Kong Plank Road many years ago, so it wasn't unfamiliar this time. But I sincerely recommend that if you want to experience the Chang Kong Plank Road, you should queue up early, or the waiting time will make you question life. Looking for a #newyearadventure ? Then I can’t recommend Hua Shan enough! This is a bucket list destination! Try to book accommodation close to the park entrance if you want to avoid the queues. We were extremely lucky because the park was closed for the previous 3 days due to weather and they opened it at 9am very last minute. Wasn’t more than 50 people on the whole mountain! However I’ve heard queues can be brutally long (up to 3 hours during peak times) for the walkway planks so best to get there as early as possible and head straight to the walkway. Hiking from the bottom is possible and would allow you to enjoy the scenery with few people around however personally i would recommend taking the chairlift to the top and hiking down if you want the best chances of avoiding the queues. There are places to get a snack on the mountain so no need to bring supplies.

It was the first time I went to Xi'an and Luoyang for a seven-day tour with a mainland group. I flew from Shenzhen to Xi'an, and the tour group sent a car to pick me up. The Xi'an City Wall was built on the basis of the imperial city of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty in the early Ming Dynasty. Later, it was repaired many times to form a strict defense system. It is one of the most complete ancient city walls in China. As soon as you enter, you will see the tall and magnificent city wall. You have to walk up a long stone staircase to get to the top of the building on the city wall. Hike on Huashan Mountain is very popular among visitors. For many years most people have taken a traditional but efficient walking-ascending and cable-car-descending route for this mountain climbing. By taking this route, visitors can experience not only its danger, but also the major meaningful scenic spots. At the foot of Mt. Huashan, you can start your trip by visiting the Jade Spring Temple. After that, you can walk to the Memorial Archway in about 15 min, and then in 5 min you will get to Five Dragon Bridge, next to which is the ticket office.
