Hidden in Longnan, Ganzhou is a divine homestay! Next to an ancient oriental fortress, so beautiful you won't want to leave
Just returned from Longnan last week, and I'm still immersed in "mountain mode" – this time I truly struck gold! The "Daylily Longnan Hakka Tulou" homestay, just a 1.5-hour high-speed train ride from Shenzhen, embodies "seclusion" and "healing" to the core. Even a city workaholic like me wanted to stay forever!
"Super convenient transportation, truly a city's backyard garden"
The homestay is located next to Yuzaitan Tulou in Liren Town, Longnan, just a 10-minute taxi ride from Longnan East Station! With high-speed trains from Nanchang (2.2h), Shenzhen (1.5h), and Huizhou (1h), weekend getaways are a breeze for nearby city dwellers. Coming from Shenzhen, the mountain breeze greeted us the moment we stepped off the train, instantly saying goodbye to the city's stifling heat!
"Step outside to an ancient oriental fortress, poetry hidden in the mountains"
Adjacent to "Yuzaitan Tulou" (locally known as the "Hakka Wine Fortress"), this is Longnan's best-preserved Hakka tulou! The old blue-brick houses with gray tiles and weathered rammed earth walls are visible from the homestay's terrace, like a living ink painting. Nearby is the "Xi Art Museum" (a mini tulou-turned-gallery), just a 5-minute walk away, blending art and local charm perfectly.
The homestay itself features a traditional three-courtyard tulou structure with modern design touches! The lively front courtyard (with a café and pool) contrasts with the serene backyard (with expansive lawns and an outdoor pool). The central hall resembles an old tulou's "main room," with carved wooden ceilings and exposed beams exuding warmth under soft yellow lighting, creating an instant sense of "coming home."
"Rooms immersed in nature, a detail-lover's dream"
Stayed in a bathtub king room – spacious at 43+ sqm! The open layout offers views of green mountains through the windows. Waking up to birdsong, lounging on the terrace with a lazy sofa watching clouds drift – this is what vacation should be!
Thoughtful room amenities: Marshall speakers playing soft music, plush bathrobes, heated smart toilet seats, and nature-inspired scents. Some rooms even have private soaking tubs. After a bath, lying on the terrace with mountain breezes carrying earthy fragrances is pure bliss.
"All-inclusive dining and activities, wilderness with refinement"
The homestay's "Wild Dining" breakfast is amazing! Freshly made rice noodles, oven-baked bread, local pickles, and stone-ground soy milk – so delicious my kid had three bowls! For dinner, enjoy hand-brewed coffee at "Wild Café" with stir-fried bamboo shoots and bacon – utterly delightful!
For summer fun, don't miss the backyard outdoor pool! Cool water with mountain views beats hotel pools any day. Kids can play with creek exploration gear (kayaks, fishing nets provided) or pick handmade souvenirs at "Wild Market" (cups and incense with tulou motifs).
Seek quiet? Try calligraphy in the meditation room. Prefer company? Chat with the owner about tulou stories in the evening – activities here aren't just "checklist items" but genuine slow-living experiences.
"Nearby attractions for endless exploration"
A 20-minute drive away is "Guanxi Tulou Scenic Area," dubbed the "Oriental Ancient Roman Castle," with imposing walls and historic bullet holes. "Qianlonggou Grand Waterfall" is perfect for summer water fun!
