About a 30-minute bus ride from Kawaguchiko Station A small village with eight ponds called 'Oshino Hakkai' Since the bus runs about once an hour, I recommend planning your trip accordingly! This is a village with views of Mt. Fuji, but unfortunately, it was cloudy when I visited, so I couldn't see Mt. Fuji 🥲. Still, the village itself is beautiful, making it a great place for taking photos and exploring! Especially Pond #2, which was truly mystical and stunning~ Since it's a popular tourist spot, I suggest walking along Shinnasho Bridge for some photos and then heading to the central souvenir shop area!✔️ There are food trucks and restaurants, so finding something to eat won't be an issue~ I had Houtou (a type of noodle soup)! However, I focused on soaking in the atmosphere and took a few photos to remember the moment. Next, we headed to "Oishi Park at Lake Kawaguchi." Wow! The scenery here was breathtakingly beautiful! The deep blue Lake Kawaguchi and the distant Mount Fuji complemented each other, creating a stunning landscape. The park was planted with various flowers, and although it wasn’t flower season, the lush greenery was still refreshing. I took many photos here, each one as picturesque as a postcard! After lunch, we visited "Arakurayama Sengen Park." This is the perfect spot to enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Fuji! Climbing up to the observation deck, Mount Fuji stood majestically before us, paired with the iconic five-story pagoda. This classic view immediately made me understand why it’s such a popular photo spot. Although climbing the stairs required some effort, the magnificent scenery made all the fatigue disappear. Later, we explored "Oshino Hakkai." This village is composed of eight crystal-clear spring ponds. The water was so transparent that you could see fish swimming leisurely at the bottom. The guide shared the historical stories and legends of this place, allowing me to appreciate the culture while enjoying the scenery. Throughout the trip, what impressed me the most was seeing Mount Fuji’s beauty from different perspectives. From the lakeside at Kawaguchi, to the heights of Arakurayama Sengen Park, and the purity of Oshino Hakkai, Mount Fuji showcased different charms against various backdrops, leaving me in awe every time. Of course, visiting Lake Kawaguchi wouldn’t be complete without trying the local ice cream! I bought one near Oishi Park, and the rich milk flavor and creamy texture were an absolute delight amidst the stunning scenery. I highly recommend everyone to give it a try! Mount Fuji in spring is so romantic! Standing under the blooming cherry blossoms, I feel like the heroine of a Japanese drama! This time I didn’t check in at those popular camera positions. Instead, I discovered a lot of unknown treasure shooting locations while walking and cycling around the lake. 🗺️ Attractions guide: 1. Konohana Museum: Take the Kawaguchiko Red Line bus and get off at Konohana Museum. Walking along the lakeside, Mount Fuji is just behind the blooming cherry blossoms, and the "bright spring scenery" is thus concretely spread out before your eyes. In the evening, the lanterns on the roadside will be lit up, which is very cartoon-like. 2. Kawaguchiko Shallows: Halfway along the lake, there is a shallow beach on the shore where you can walk into. #schoolholidays When on a roadtrip around Tokyo, we had the opportunity to stop by Oshino-Hakkai, and even though it’s the start of winter and the weather was getting more gloomy, it was still very tranquil and lovely. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Oshino-Hakkai is a beautiful village with many clear fish ponds with water from Mount Fuji’s melting snow. Well worth a visit as it’s really peaceful and quaint.
